A Spanish takeover of Titanic shipbuilder Harland & Wolff has been blasted as a “smoke and mirrors” deal that would see Royal Navy ships assembled exterior Britain.
Navantia, Spain’s state-owned shipbuilder, is buying all 4 websites across the UK after the father or mother firm of the yards fell into administration.
About 1,000 jobs are to be saved at shipyards in Northern Eire, Scotland and England.
Enterprise Secretary Jonathan Reynolds stated the deal was “good for jobs” and “good for nationwide safety”.
